The Border Reivers

The Storey clan originally came from Aberdeenshire but a section of the family moved south into England with some settling close to the Scottish border in Cumbria and others in the valley of the River Rede in Northumberland.

When the Storeys were accused of treachery by the warden of the March, Lord Dacre, their land was taken from them and given to the Grahams.

The Storeys then joined with some members of the Hall, Milburn and Potts clans to make reiving raids on their neighbours throughout the 16th century onwards.

The surname is still common today in North Northumberland.
